WineBlueBook (formerly QPRwines) is a wine buying guide that compares wine ratings and price to determine value.
Although this month's issue has fewer wines (282 wines listed), there are more great value wines than last month's issue.
At the high scoring end, the 2005 Lewis, Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Reserve received an average score of 95 points and at $113 it is 41% of the average cost of a similar scoring West Coast Cabernet Sauvignon earning it an "Great Value" moniker. The 2005 Château la Vieille Cure, Bordeaux Fronsac received an average score of 92 and at $32 it is 31% of the average $103 cost of a similar scoring Bordeaux wine.
At the value end of $12 the 2006 Pavilion, Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley received an average score of 87 points and is 28% the average $43 cost of a similar scoring West Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. At $10 the 2006 M. Chapoutier, Southern Red Rhone Côtes du Rhône Belleruche received an average score of 87 points and is 37% of the average $27 cost of a similar scoring Southern Rhone.
