WineBlueBook (formerly QPRwines) is a wine buying guide that compares wine ratings and price to determine value.
This month's issue covers many White Burgundy, West Coast Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc wines that were scored last month by the wine critics.
At the high scoring end, the 2004 Pio Cesare, Italian Piedmont Red Wine Barolo Ornato received an average score of 95 points and at $105 it is 46% of the average cost of a similar scoring Piedmont Red wine earning it an "Great Value" moniker. The 2004 Fattoria di Felsina, Sangiovese Chianti Classico Rancia Riserva received an average score of 92 and at $36 it is 45% of the average $63 cost of a similar scoring Tuscan Sangiovese.
At the value end of $16 the 2006 Alma Rosa, Chardonnay Santa Barbara received an average score of 92 points and is 26% the average $62 cost of a similar scoring West Coast Chardonnay. At $10 the 2006 R Winery, Shiraz Southeast Australia Strong Arms received an average score of 89 points and is 34% of the average $29 cost of a similar scoring Australian Shiraz.
