2000-2004 Bordeaux Issue (November 15, 2006 Issue)

In this issue you will find 2000-2004 Bordeaux wines from France.

When combining all the vintages by score and price, the 2000 vintage has 17 "Great Value" wines, the 2003 has 14 "Great Values", the 2004 has six, the 2001 has four and the 2002 has one "Great Value" wine.

When comparing wines scoring 90 points or more, 60% of the 2004 vintage wines average 90 points or above while the 2000 vintage has 54%, the 2003 and 2001 vintages have 45% and the 2002 vintage has only 32%. In terms of the average price for a 90 scoring wine, the 2004 vintage averages $37, the 2000 averages $44, the 2003 averages $46, the 2001 averages $50 and the 2002 vintage averages $54.

At the high end the 2000 Leoville Las Cases, St Julien averages 97 points and at $275 it is 29% of the average $938 price for a similar scoring wine earning a "Great Value" moniker. At $105 the 2000 Ducru-Beaucaillou, St Julien averages 95 points and is 43% the average price earning it a "Great Value". At $41 the 2004 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac averages 93 points and is 34% the average price earning it a "Great Value". At $21 the 2003 Le Crock, St Estèphe averages 91 points and is 34% the average price earning it a "Great Value". At the value end of $11, the 2002 Gigault, Premières Côtes de Blaye Cuvée Viva averages 86 and earns a 39% "Great Value" QPR.
